Rogers Park RE/MAX NorthCoast merges with Lakeview RE/MAX Edge

Posted on April 29, 2011

CHICAGO, May 1, 2010 – After nearly 25 years of being the only real estate office in Rogers Park specializing in the Rogers Park community, Connie Abels, Broker/Owner announces the merger of her office into RE/MAX Edge, an established RE/MAX office in Lakeview.  The move creates a stronger real estate brokerage, one that benefits from a large group of talented real estate agents and the lower overhead costs that come with operating one office instead of two.  “I am not leaving Rogers Park.  I live here, work here and play here.  This is my community.” Abels said.  Abels has been active in many of the Rogers Park organizations; a charter member and director of the Rogers Park Builders Group, a commissioner with the Morse Avenue #24 SSA,  membership director of Rotary-Chicago Far North,  a past director of Rogers Park Community Council, Roger Park Community Development Corp, member of the Rogers Park Business Alliance, lifetime member of the Rogers Park Historical Society, and lifetime Friend of the Rogers Park Library, member of the Rogers Park Garden Group to name only a few of the local organizations and committees she has volunteered.
The merger became official at the end of March when RE/MAX NorthCoast and its agents moved into the RE/MAX Edge office at 3843 N. Broadway.  The office, which will retain the RE/MAX Edge name, will be run by broker/owner Mark Zipperer, a real estate broker of more than 8 years of experience.  Connie Abels, the owner of the former RE/MAX NorthCoast office, is joining the new office as a real estate broker-associate and mentor. “This move helps our clients overall,” Abels said.  “The combined resources of this new larger office mean that we have more to of a buyer pool to offer to our clients.” We will be able to get our Rogers Park listings in front of Lakeview buyers who are looking for greater value at a more affordable price than they can find in Lakeview.  In this tough market, this will really help our clients.”
Both Zipperer and Abels said that the merger will make the new RE/MAX Edge an even more powerful presence along the lakefront from downtown to Evanston.
The merger brings more than 30 listings – represented by the agents coming from RE/MAX NorthCoast – to the new RE/MAX Edge office.  A total of 6 new agents will also join the RE/MAX Edge office, with the new additions, RE/MAX Edge now boasts a staff 20 agents..
Zipperer is a veteran of the Chicago residential real estate business for 8 years.  He has owned RE/MAX Edge offices for the last six years.  Abels, too, is a longtime member of the residential real estate industry.  She has owned her real estate office since 1987.  “After nearly 25 years of owning and managing a real estate office, I am looking forward to being able to do the part of real estate that I enjoy most; listing, marketing, and selling real estate and having some free time to pursue my other passions.”
