“If I could change the world” - Essays from Four Local Students.

Posted on November 22, 2010

This contest was hosted to kick-off the new Hearts for Hearts Girls dolls line by Playmates Toys. Chicago is the first test market to offer the dolls in retail stores, and they are available nationally online at target.com and toysrus.com.
What is unique about these dolls? They represent girls who are working to change the world in the following countries: Belarus, Ethiopia, India, Laos, Mexico, and the United States. In addition, 6.5 percent of each doll purchase will benefit World Vision, which assists roughly 100 million people in more than 100 countries throughout the world including all of the regions represented by Hearts for Hearts Girls.
World Vision and Playmates choose to host this event at George Armstrong because each of the dolls’ six nationalities are reflected by the student body. Hearts for Hearts Girls, in partnership with World Vision, is hoping to empower children to become agents of change in their communities, their countries, and around the world.

Kudos to Armstrong School, and its principal, Otis Dunson III, for bringing new ideas and private sector partnerships to enhance their kids’ lives.
