CTA considers closing stops on north lines - Jarvis at risk?
The Chicago Transit Authority is considering several options for how to modernize its century-old Red and Purple Lines on Chicago’s North Side and in Evanston, and this week officials revealed that some of those options would involve closing stations. In their stead, new entrances would be added to nearby stations. “You would still have a station that would serve that area,” said CTA spokesman Sheila Gregory. “It would just be sort of reconfigured for modern times.” Gregory says fewer stations could also reduce travel times. Transition Rogers Park
Transition Rogers Park Chicago held its first visioning session on June 20, 2009. The ideas generated through interactive, participatory exercises will seed working groups in the areas of community, food, reskilling, transportation and local commerce as "Rogers Parkers" work to build a community that is resilient to the challenges ahead, including climate change, peak oil and the economy. Sheridan Road Resurfacing Begins
