CTA authorizes spending $550 million on 406 new rail cars; $674 million total buy
I admit it. I'm suffering from CTA service cuts burnout. So it was great that the CTA board met Wednesday and acted on a couple topics near and dear to my heart -- the new train cars and CTA safety. Next week we'll discuss safety. MORE HERE

Transition Rogers Park
Transition Rogers Park Chicago held its first visioning session on June 20, 2009. The ideas generated through interactive, participatory exercises will seed working groups in the areas of community, food, reskilling, transportation and local commerce as "Rogers Parkers" work to build a community that is resilient to the challenges ahead, including climate change, peak oil and the economy. Sheridan Road Resurfacing Begins
The Alderman's office is reporting that work has begun on a complete resurfacing of Sheridan Road from the Evanston border south to Devon Avenue. The work will also include repairs to curbs and gutters and sewer and water mains where needed.More…
