Felines Inc. working to raise $380,000

Felines Inc. working to raise $380,000 Chicago, Ill., July 26, 2011 – Felines Inc., a cageless, no-kill cat shelter is responding to the needs of the community and its animal residents by taking on a renovation and addition project to its current location. The renovation, scheduled to begin in September, will add an extra 3,500 square feet to the shelter located in Chicago’s Rogers Park neighborhood. The non-profit organization has raised funds by applying for grants, holding fundraising events and attending nearby neighborhood street fairs for the past several months, but is still in need of $380,000 to complete the renovation and cover normal operational fees.

Rescuer: ‘You could hear the dogs crying and the ice cracking’ Chicago Breaking News: Shannon Nickerson worried as she watched two dogs playing on the ice along the Howard Beach shoreline. They were about 100 feet from shore, and Nickerson feared they could break through the ice and into frigid Lake Michigan any second. Dog Park Planning Meeting

Community representatives serving on the Participatory Budgeting Parks & Environment Committee invite you to a meeting to discuss plans and possible locations for an official dog park in the 49th Ward. The meeting will be held this Saturday, February 6th, 3:00 p.m., at The Glenwood, 6962 N. Glenwood Ave. Staff from from the Chicago Park District will be present to discuss the procedures involved in creating a dog park. This is only an information and planning meeting for a project proposal, which will be subject to a community vote in April alongside many other spending proposals.
