Daniel R. Gomez, Classical Guitarist
By Elissa JonesRogers Park has long been home to many diverse artists, one of whom is Daniel R. Gomez, 32. He is a guitarist specializing in classical and South American folk music. Slender and unassuming, with a slight accent from his native of Lima [Peru], Gomez explained that he had emigrated alone to Chicago in 2006, to join relatives living here.
Often, musicians begin their craft at a young age. Not so with Gomez; he did not begin playing guitar until age 26. However, he made up for lost time, motivated by a search for passion in his life. Initially, he was self-taught.

Local video wins top honors
The YouTube video Glenwood and Morse 2010 featuring the Glenwood Avenue Arts District, Duke's Bar, and the Glenwood Sunday Market has won a top four position in the Metropolitan Planning Commision's Placemaking Chicago contest. The announcement and video was aired on WGN TV Friday, September 17, at 5:50 pm. by Mary Bao and Neil Lifton, owners of Duke's Bar.

Record Release Party - Yama and the Karma Dusters
Lion Productions is pleased to announce the release of Yama and the Karma Dusters’ 1971 album, “Up From The Sewers” on Earth Day, April 22nd, 2010. Yama and the Karma Dusters played music at the first Earth Day Celebration at Daley Plaza in 1970; and they recorded their environmental warning song “Evolution” on their self produced album, which featured revolutionary protest songs, blues, rock and love songs.
