Spotlight - ROGERS PARK BUILDERS GROUP

The Rogers Park Builders Group (RPBG) was founded in 1993 by real estate professionals, independent property owners and financial institutions to help the community realize its potential. Joining with the more that 60 community groups in the area, RPBG has been a catalyst for initiatives ranging from neighborhood revitalization to obtaining exposure in the media for the area’s cultural, architectural, and artistic heritage. RPBG annually produces events that highlight successful efforts within the community and that encourage newcomers to participate in the continuing rejuvenation of Rogers Park. More about RPBG here

Volunteer Opportunities-RPCC

The Rogers Park Community Council has formed a Nominating Committee to gather volunteers for service as Board members for either RPCC or the Rogers Park Development Corporation (a wholly owned subsidiary of RPCC). The Nominating Committee members for 2011 are Lorraine Dostal, Dick Gregory and Sarah Lisy.

Rogers Park RE/MAX NorthCoast merges with Lakeview RE/MAX Edge

CHICAGO, May 1, 2010 – After nearly 25 years of being the only real estate office in Rogers Park specializing in the Rogers Park community, Connie Abels, Broker/Owner announces the merger of her office into RE/MAX Edge, an established RE/MAX office in Lakeview. Historical Society Annual House Tour - May 1st

Rogers Park/West Ridge Historical Society holds its 25th annual House Tour featuring Morse Avenue and the Glenwood Arts District The Rogers Park/West Ridge Historical Society proudly announces its 25th annual house tour, to be held on Sunday May 1 from noon until 5:00 PM. This year’s tour features historically significant houses, a church and a former synagogue, among other spots of historical value surrounding Morse Avenue and Glenwood Arts District.

North Side Community FCU’s New Branch in Rogers Park + Event Photos!

The North Side Community Federal Credit Union (NSCFCU) on Monday, January 24, 2011 held a “launch luncheon” to kickoff its new joint venture with the Howard Area Community Center (HACC) as part of a unique effort to add affordable banking to the list of social services that are available to residents of Rogers Park, a mixed income neighborhood on Chicago’s far north side.

HOME OWNERSHIP AT RISK IN ROGERS PARK - By Peter Fugiel

As much as Rogers Park is a rental community, condo ownership came on strong in the past decade. A record number of conversions added to the ownership profile here and in West Ridge. Now with the real estate bubble burst, the banks unable to dispose of all their distressed home properties, there is an increased interest in protecting rental assets for the affordable housing they provide. In Rogers Park that is critical.

Alderman Moore’s Decision on Proposal to TIF the 49th Ward

For the last year and a half, a group of activists led by former Lakeside Community Development Corporation Director, Brian White, and a community organization, A Just Harvest, have demanded that I support Mr. White's proposal to impose a ward-wide Tax Increment Financing (TIF) district that would provide grants to landlords for low income housing in the 49th Ward. Mr. White and his allies call their brand of TIF a RIF (Residential Improvement Fund).

Community Meeting on Proposed Development at 1557-61 W. Howard

Developers Richard Aronson and Scott Sinar will present their proposal for a seven-story mixed-use building. The building would contain 60 residential units and 15,000 to 30,000 square feet of commercial space. The proposal would also include 60-75 parking spaces located within the building. More here...

Tiff regarding Proposed “Rental Improvement Fund”

Today I received an email from Alderman Moore, and a brochure written by Brian White, Executive Director of Lakeside CDC, promoting Friday’s landlord’s meeting where they will present a proposed “Rental Improvement Fund” whereby local landlords within most of the 49th Ward would be entitled to grant money to repair their buildings, in exchange for the landlord committing to keep a certain number of units within the building affordable.
