SHAMBHALA MEDITATION CENTER SELECTS NEW CENTER DIRECTOR

The Shambhala Meditation Center has been a quiet force in the east Rogers Park community since 1996. This past May, for the first time in its nearly twenty-year history, the SMC has a full-time Director, Mr. Tom Adducci. Tom was previously the Director of the Minneapolis Shambhala Center. Tom is a Chicago native.

Applications to Design an Underpass Mural Now Being Accepted All Chicago-based artists are invited to submit a design for one of twelve murals that will grace the CTA and Metra underpasses in the 49th Ward. The "Mass Underpass Murals Project" was one of the funding proposals that received voter approval in the Participatory Budgeting Election last April in which I gave the 49th Ward residents the power to determine how I would spend the 49th Ward's capital budget allocation.

The Ruckus Theater Makes Promising Chicago Debut With “Heist Play”

Recently transplanted from Kalamazoo, The Ruckus is a company dedicated to finding fresh ways to develop new work, and, according to their mission statement, bringing the ruckus. The world premiere production of Heist Play doesn’t quite bring the ruckus, but it’s on the right track. With a few cuts and some refining, the script has the potential to be as sharp as some of its killer one-liners.
