Dear Sullivan Community Members,

Celebrate!  Celebrate!  Dance to the music.  And we are……………. dancing to the music.  In three short years Sullivan High School has experienced a major turnaround rising from a Level 3 school to a Level 2+ school.  Major factors that have contributed to the elevation in grade include:
•  An increase in student enrollment (approximately 70 students)
•  An increase in daily student attendance
•  10 % increase in college enrollment
•  90% of the freshmen class is on track to graduation (FOT)
•  3 Posse Scholarship winners
•  Recognized as an exemplary model of Social and Emotional Learning
Our successes are not limited to academics.  Our athletic teams are doing their part as well.  Their achievements include:
•  The 2016/2017 football team has secured 1st Place and is now 7 & 0
•  The 2016/2017 boys soccer team were co-conference champs move
up to the conference and will face schools such as Lane Tech next year

•  Girls volleyball ended their season 5 - 4
•  2 Sullivan students received track scholarships to U.I.C.

Our football team is truly an embodiment of our turnaround, they didn’t win a game our first two years and last year they won 4 games and this year they have yet to lose a game and will be playing their Homecoming game against Little Village Academy today at 4:15 at Winnemac Park.  Please come out!

Sullivan students are poised to take our message around the world.  Nine students visited Hamburg, Germany as part of the Sister Cities Exchange Program this month and two additional opportunities are in the planning stages to have students participate in activities that will take them to Panama, Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic.

As we continue to move forward and build on our successes, it becomes increasingly important to form strong ties with parents, community members, local businesses and Sullivan alumni.  To this end, Sullivan will host a meet-and-greet on Next Friday, October 21st at 11 a.m., followed by a brief meeting to discuss the formation of an exploratory committee for a Friends of Sullivan group.  Please R.S.V.P. by calling 773-534-2000 or email Vivian Biegaj at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

Mike has a long term relationship with Rogers Park, having lived here at various times in his life, most recently returning to the neighborhood in August, 2009. While living here as a third year law student, he remembers drunken nights at Biddy Mulligan’s and hosting a couple of memorable parties that he, hypocritically, now forbids his own tenants from having. Years later, after completing his stint as a lawyer, Mike started investing in apartment buildings in Rogers Park (and elsewhere), and soon after, did what many newly divorced real estate investors do: he moved into one of his buildings. In 1992 Mike was one of the founding members of the Rogers Park Builders Group, an organization that he eventually headed for six years, until yielding those reigns three years ago. Around a decade ago, on a whim, he reserved the web site “Rogerspark.com,” which he has been developing ever since, and which co-hosts RP BizArts networking events. Mike is the proud father of three wonderful children, Amy, Mitch and Ella.
